Hopefully you can join us at our meeting on Thursday, April 4th . We will be hosting our in person speaker Cole Whitaker! Guests are welcome at our meetings! If you wish to attend via Zoom, please see your meeting link in your email from Mo.
There will be door prize at the end of the meeting. Must be present in person or via Zoom to win!
“In this presentation, you will be introduced to Inkscape which is an open-source graphic design program. You will learn some basics of how to use tools within the program and how the program can be used to create quilt patterns. The class will cover how to choose a picture, how to draw a quilt block, how to create a swatch chart and how to save and organize files. In this process, you will learn how to draw quilt blocks that can easily be printed on your home computer. By the end of the presentation, you will know what you need to know in order to draw your own quilt pattern from scratch.”
Typically, Cole teaches his technique as a class, but since this is a 1 hour presentation as opposed to a workshop, it is not realistic that someone would be able to follow along and complete a pattern in that time. The idea is that you should know enough to go home and try. You may bring a laptop with the program downloaded if you want to try to follow along. Here is the link to the download. (it doesn’t work on ipads). https://inkscape.org/
We have important changes to the agenda for this week’s meeting on Thursday, March 7, 2024. We are rescheduling Cole to the April guild meeting. In lieu of our speaker, would like to have a showing of antique and vintage quilts. If you have an antique or vintage quilt, please bring it and share your quilt’s story.
What is the difference between Antique and Vintage quilts? Quilts from the 1920s or earlier are antique and vintage quilts were made between 1930-1965.
Guests are welcome at in person meetings at the Brightwater Education Center. If you would like to attend by Zoom, please see your email for the invitation and link!
Wait there is more!
After we show the antique or vintage quilts we will have our announcements and then step into our regular show and tell. I was thinking about our quilt show entries from last year. We were able to submit 2 quilts…but maybe you had a third one that we did not get to see. If you do, bring it to share. This evening will be a parade of quilts!
